The business developed from manganese and mineral trading into a processing platform focused on unlocking value from ore that requires correct treatment, upgrading and market structure.

KPS started in the mineral industry through manganese trading, with a specific focus on manganese nodules in the North West Province. The company identified value in lower-grade ores and by-product material that many larger operators overlook — turning overlooked mineral opportunities into commercially viable products through the correct process route.
Instead of only trading material, KPS began focusing on processing, upgrading and practical plant solutions. The company worked alongside Northern Cape-based iron ore mines, applying gravity separation to DMS discharge material. Over time, KPS expanded into chrome opportunities across the North West and Limpopo regions.
Chrome offered stronger economics, better scalability and a more focused opportunity to build processing capacity around a mineral with long-term demand fundamentals. This allowed KPS to apply its processing experience to a more specialised and valuable commodity.

KPS is currently focused on chrome processing, with active participation in chrome opportunities across the North West and Limpopo regions. The current operating model uses crushing, wet material classifying and gravity separation to produce chrome concentrate.
The plant is designed around simple, reliable and proven technology with the ability to produce consistently and maintain strong uptime.
Chrome remains a key focus because of its role in ferrochrome, stainless steel and broader industrial markets. KPS is positioned to continue growing in the chrome sector through its network, processing experience, logistics capability and market access.

Operational approach
Every site has its own challenges. Feed changes, moisture changes, equipment wears, water systems block, pumps fail, staff need structure and production targets still need to be met. KPS has grown through direct exposure to those conditions and focuses on the details that keep a plant running.
Much of the steel base work and electrical infrastructure is constructed in-house, improving control over cost, timelines and plant quality. In-house execution allows KPS to respond faster when changes, improvements or operational adjustments are needed on site.
People and local development
KPS is not only built around directors and equipment. The company depends on the people who keep the plants running: plant operators, general workers, machine operators, technical support staff, supervisors and site managers. These are the people who start the plant, monitor material, manage water, keep the spirals running, maintain production and solve problems daily.
A plant can have the correct design and the right equipment, but without the right people and discipline it will not perform. KPS focuses on practical training, clear responsibilities and management that stays close to the operation.
